Barbara Knisely was hired in November 2006 and has nearly 20 years of previous government experience, working for the cities of Maumee and Bowling Green before coming to Whitehouse.  Please feel free to call or e-mail Barb at bknisely@whitehouseoh.gov with any questions.

Building Permits:  As of September 1, 2010, the Village of Whitehouse has contracted with the City of Maumee for all Building Department related matters.  Maumee personnel will conduct all plan reviews, inspections and the issuance of all building permits.

As in prior years, plans and permit requests can be dropped off at Village Hall and they will be forwarded to Maumee for the paperwork to be completed.  If they prefer, homeowners and contractors can take plans directly to Maumee if they have specific questions or need help with the plans.

Prior to beginning any building project, please call our Chief Building Official at 419-897-7075 to check on the permit process or to ask specific questions.

Zoning Permits:  The Village of Whitehouse will continue to handle all zoning matters, as was done in the past.  If you have questions concerning the zoning classifications of certain properties or if you have a zoning violation complaint, please contact Barbara Knisely at 419-877-5383 and she will be happy to assist you.  When changes are made to our zoning code, building permit fees, or regulations, residents will be notified through our quarterly Village “Hometown News” newsletter and on the Village web site.

Contractor Registration:  In late 2007, the Village of Whitehouse passed legislation requiring all contractors to be registered with the Village before they are issued any type of permits.  With this information, we are able to provide a list of contractors to residents or business owners who would like to hire a reputable company.  Each contractor is required to provide complete information concerning their business and they are checked through the Better Business Bureau to see if complaints have been filed against them.  This is a great tool to assist our residents before allowing a contractor into their home.
